Collecting Photographs
Platinum prints are renowned for their beauty, subtlety and permanence. The image is made from particles of pure platinum, the noblest and most expensive image-making metal. The image is formed within the fibres of fine artist’s paper, rather than sitting on its surface. A well-made platinum print will last as long as the paper it is printed on – hundreds of years or longer.
I make my platinum prints entirely by hand from film and glass plate negatives exposed in-camera. My exacting printing process requires extensive time and expertise. Coupled with the inherent variability of hand-coated paper, this ensures that every print in the edition is unique.
Print Formats
The size of each print is fixed by the size of the camera used to make the negative – i.e. an 8×10-inch print requires an 8×10-inch negative.
My prints are generally in one of three sizes:
Prints from an 11×14-inch negative—These larger prints have greater physical presence. They are well suited to being displayed on their own. Prices start at CHF 1,200.
Prints from an 8×10-inch negative—The majority of my work is in this size. These prints are well suited to being displayed individually or in groups. Prices start at CHF 700.
Prints from a 4×5-inch negative—These are more intimate prints, intended for close or personal viewing. They are well suited to being displayed in groups, or individually in the right space. Prices start at CHF 320.
