Many historical processes are only sensitive to UV, blue and sometimes a bit of green light. The precise sensitivity varies with different processes – early dry plates are skewed further towards UV than later orthochromatic dry plates, for example.
To make accurate exposure decisions, you really need a light meter that knows the wavelengths your process responds to, and measures only those. Unfortunately, no-one has ever built a meter like that – until today!
LC Apollo measures 10 light bands from ultraviolet to near-infrared. You can configure recipes that tell the meter which bands you care about. For example, for wet plates you could have a recipe that uses all of the UV, most of the violet, a little of the blue, but none of the other bands.
Suddenly metering your UV-sensitive exposures is easy!
